Learning Outcome

  • Can I define bullying?

  • What are the different forms of bullying?

Lesson Outline

  • Introduce the topic by completing the Kahoot below

  • Discuss the results of the quiz after you finish

  • Follow this up with a Looks Like, Sounds Like, Feels Like activity in regards to Bullying

  • Watch the three clips below and discuss the key messages from each

  • Once students have developed this understanding ask them to complete the key definitions in the Bullying work booklet

  • Begin discussion using Inquiry Question 3 from the discussion points in the link below (15-20 mins)

  • Ask students to complete the remain questions in their booklet

  • Follow up with the review quiz

Managing Bullying

Learning Outcome

  • What strategies can I use manage this type of behaviour?

  • How does it impact my mental health?

Lesson Outline

  • Recap the previous lesson's key points

  • Introduce lesson by watching the "How to stop a bully" clip (below)

  • Begin a discussion regarding the strategies mentioned in the clip

  • Create a class mind map (either as a whole class or in groups) on the different social media platforms (facebook, snapchat, twitter etc)  used to engage in cyberbullying & furthermore start to address ways to prevent cyberbullying on these platforms

  • Ask students to complete the Cyberbullying questionnaire in their booklets

  • Discuss their answers once complete

  • Follow up by watching the "How to beat Cyberbullies" clip

  • Students now have the option (if time permits) to complete the extension task in their booklets

Gratitude, Mindfulness and Empathy

Learning Outcome

  • We will develop a clear definition of gratitude, mindfulness and empathy

  • Understanding how we can implement gratitude in our lives

  • How empathy can help us build relationships

  • Create some mindfulness strategies and analyse their impact

Lesson Outline

  • Introduce the topic of mindfulness, engaging students in a guided mediation using Smiling Mind (link below)

  • Complete a think, pair, share activity as students define Gratitude, Mindfulness and Empathy

  • Ask them to complete this in their work booklets. 

  • Follow up by watching the clip about the Resilience Project and the Gratitude Clip

  • Discuss with your class the impact of gratitude

  • Complete the Gratitude Kahoot

  • Spend some time discussing with students what they could be grateful for

  • Now ask students to complete the gratitude letter, recognising someone or something they are truly grateful for

  • Give an example of someone you are truly grateful for, so students understand the expectation

  • Finish the lesson by asking students to complete the gratitude journal

Building Resilience

Learning Outcome

  • What does the term resilience mean and how can I practice it in everyday life

Lesson Outline

  • Begin the lesson with the ‘do now’ task positive affirmations; 

  •  Option 1 - Students to create and decorate box to store affirmations, complete affirmations for others in the class

  • Option 2 - Just on post it notes 

  • Once the box is created students are to each write one positive quality about each student in the class. Placing the post it note in each others personal boxes. 

  • As a class create a mind map of stressful situations

  • Once complete discuss different strategies we could implement to help cope with those situations

  • Move on to the smiling faces activity - read scenarios and ask students to move the face they think reflects their feelings about the scenario

  • Discuss each scenario as you move through them

  • Students can now complete their gratitude journal for this week. 

  • Introduce and discuss the Reverse Bucket List

  • Ask students to complete their own reverse bucket list of all the things they have achieved

  • Finish the topic with a Looks Like, Sounds, Like, Feels Like activity for Resilience
